An Abecedary Press Production. A story in prose and poetry about Harp Seals by Mark Philip Carol, told in three voices; a fifteen year-old narrator from the Magdalen Islands, the mother seal in free verse and the baby seal in stream of consciousness. Eleven two-color aquatint and dry point etchings and five woodengravings by Alan James Robinson. Introduction by Brian Davies, founder of the International Fund for Animal Welfare. The text, set in Centaur and Arrighi, is printed on T. H. Saunders hot-pressed watercolor paper, with the etchings printed on Rives BFK protected by sky blue Japanese Moriki paper. It is bound in a non-adhesive paper binding and protected by a silk-linen tray-case created by Sarah Creighton. The Timothy Barrett hand-made paper cover has a window which frames a woodengraving of a Harp Seal pup printed on Gampi Torinoko. Designed by Alan James Robinson and Mark Philip Carol.
